What a fantastic film! It went so quickly and we enjoyed every second of it, there was everything - amazing scenery, history, true events, laughter and tears AND romance....that Hugh Jackman is delicious and Nicole Kidman is superb as ever! Go and watch it, you won't be disappointed!
Definately One Not To Miss!

I went to see this film on Saturday night, unsure of whether or not I should, having only such mixed reviews on this site to base my opinion on. But I'm glad I did! Not normally being a fan of NIcole Kidman, I found myself a convertee (although her 'fake' upper class English accent and slightly too 'wooden' acting does leave quite a bit to be desired!) I knew next to nothing about Hugh Jackman but he too was excellent (better than Kidman but, in fairness, no doubt better suited to the role he played.) There was also good performances from supporting cast. Probably not one for kids younger than around 14 though (despite being a 12A) as they're likely to get bored. However, I suspect this film will be at the forefront of the Oscar nominations and quite rightly so. Although by no means the 'perfect' film - and it's bound to have it's critics - I think, in years to come, it may well be labelled into that rare category of 'classic' or 'epic'. Catch it before it disappears to DVD - it's definately one for the big screen and definately one not to be missed!

This is a film which falls between the stools of comedy and serious drama and fails horribly.
The acting is wooden by the leading players, especially Nicole Kidmam who's parody of an English lady is dreadful. The only exceptions to this are the young boy and his grandfather.
The film is far too long but my wife wouldn't let me leave.
In summary, the film made me feel sorry for the Australians - and that takes a lot of doing.
